This is an exciting Anthem Church program for boys 10-17 years of age. Our goal is to lead boys in becoming men of valor.

Valor Wrestling Academy is for boys 10-18 years of age.

First Corinthians 16:13-17 says, “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” Valor wrestling is focused on teaching boys what it means to be a man of valor:

Displaying humility in failure and success
Harnessing wise assertiveness
Being a servant-leader like Jesus
Practicing self-control
Living an honorable life
Growing as a faithful follower of Jesus

About Valor Wrestling Academy

Valor Wrestling Academy is not recess or playtime, nor is it an exercise program. This is training.

Valor time includes a 30 minute Bible study followed by 90 minutes of on-the-mat wrestling training.

What is wrestling?

It’s the hardest 6-minutes. For six minutes most muscles are constantly flexed either attacking the opponent or fighting off an attack from the opponent. It’s 1-on-1 competition. It’s humbling.

And it’s rewarding. Wrestling offers a unique way to train boys both physically and spiritually.

Coaches

All Valor Wrestling Academy coaches have been vetted by Anthem Church and have been background checked.

Valor Wrestling Academy is led by Coach Steve. Steve wrestled all four years in high-school. He then attended Gardner-Webb University where he lettered all four years in football and graduated with a BS in Education. After college, Steve taught and coached in the NC education system for seven years. As a coach, he had six State Champions and numerous State qualifiers and four Conference Championships. He was also selected at 4A Wrestling Coach of the Year for the 1995-96 season. It is a great blessing to have Coach Steve leading Valor and helping our boys grow into mature and godly men.
